However, I was brainstorming about this content and trying to think of what problems I faced while starting to blog and what problem are you facing?
In this post I will only share Blogging tips for beginners. Because sometimes I feel like I share some of the advanced stuff and I don’t take it back to the basics. But, after ending the basic tips for blogging, you will get some tips for being a successful blogger. So, do not leave reading at the middle.
Today I figured out, it would be great fun if I talk about some simple things that you can do your first month of blogging. Because when you first start your blog there is so much information out there and so much stuff that you have to do.
So firstly, I am going to share five things with you guys that I think you should be doing at your first month of blogging.
Because I don’t want to overwhelm you.
- Create you Social Media Presence: So the first thing I think you should do is set up your social media presence. Once you have your blog, your domain and website it is going to take you a while to actually design that website and get it ready for launch.
But while you are doing that you need to make sure that you are setting up your social media presence on a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
When you are setting up your social media accounts you want to make sure that it accurately reflects your brand and what you are trying to create with your blog.
If you are talking about one specific topic on your blog you should be talking about that topic as well across your social media platforms.
One important thing to remember is when you are setting up those accounts you want your Social media name to match your blog.
If your blog name is something unique and something you came up with and then your social media name is just your personal name it’s going to be a little bit harder for people to find you. In my case, everything for me is the content but if you go on Instagram it is the azamshafiul if you search on YouTube.
It is AzamShafiul.com and if you type in azamshafiul.com you’re going to find my website. So, it makes it a little bit easier for your audience to find you if they just have one specific name.
You definitely make sure that you are setting up your social media presence.
- Create you Content Calendar: You want to create and build out your content calendar.
Now if you have no idea what a content calendar is? Don’t worry.
It is very simple.
It is basically just your schedule that tells you what blog posts are going out on what days and within your content calendar.
I also like to have a section that includes all of my ideas.
When I have to write a blog post I have an idea right there ready for me. So, I can just sit down and write.
This is something that is really going to hold you accountable and help you say can assistant as a blogger from the very beginning now.
- Setting Up Google Analytics: The next step is setting up your Google Analytics as well
As your Google Search console.
First of all start with Google Analytics. It is going to be your place where you can tell how many people are visiting your website, where those people are coming from, how long they’re spending on your website and so much more information.
Google Analytics is really going to become your friend and I do have a few resources talking about how you can better use Google Analytics.
Setting up your Google Analytics isn’t that complicated. Honestly Google will walk you through the steps on how to do it.
But I want to talk a bit more about Google search console because I feel like not a lot of people know about Google search console.
It is the foundation for your SEO success.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is basically how you get found on Google.
Google has an algorithm just like YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. Everything has an algorithm and you want to make sure that you are working with Google’s algorithms thus you can appear higher in
A lot of people want to appear first in search and one of the steps that you have to do is get set up with Google search console.
What Google search console does? It lets you verify your website with Google.
Google knows that your website exists. They know what pages to go through as well as what pages
their robot is allowed to crawl and allow to rank within their search engine.
Lets see how you can set up search console with a wordpress website?
Just simply search for a Google search console this should be the first search result that appears you will also notice that Google search consoles also refer to as a webmaster tool.
If you ever hear either name just know that it is the exact same platform. Click on the first search result it should be search
This is going to just show you a little overview of what Google search console can do.
But what you want on easy start now button it will then
Now, lets go to WordPress dashboard and you are going to need a plug-in. Name of the plugin is tracking code manager so under plugins.
I will show you guys what this looks like so this is a plug-in right here. Once it is installed then activate it.
Now it is going to appear in your settings. Under tracking code manager. So going to jump to mine right and now once
You are within a tracking code manager. You are going to want to add a new code. Once you click on that add new code you will be brought to a page that looks exactly like this you’re going to want
- Apply for Google Adsense: I would recommend that you apply it for google adsense when you are a beginner blogger. One of the easiest ways for you to make pennies.
If they’re at you are not going to be making very much money with ads from the very beginning. But I do think it is important that you include ads on your website from the starting and your audience gets used to seeing ads compared to if you don’t have any ads on your website for months or maybe even a year.
Then you randomly start including ads on your website your audience may get confused or they may not like the format or the flow of your website anymore.
So I would recommend putting ads on your website from the very beginning so your audience is used to it.
You can start making money as soon as possible so with Google Adsense.
You do not need a certain number of page views to apply you can simply apply to Google Adsense and start adding ads to your website.
Then once you do hit a certain number of page views and you want to move up to maybe a more advanced and network you can go ahead and do that and then of course if you are serious about growing your blog from the very beginning you need it to learn about Pinterest.
- Setting up Pinterest: You may not even think that, Pinterest is a great source of high quality traffic. You will get many resources in Youtube. Go through these materials and you will find out how to build a strong Pinterest profile.
Pinterest, truly is a powerhouse especially for bloggers to drive traffic to your website so if you want more traffic more eyeballs on your website and you want to start growing from the very beginning from your first month you need to learn as much as you can about Pinterest now
Success Tips for Blogging: You have learned about five most basic blogging tips for beginner. In this part I will talk some motivational way which will help you to stick to blogging and take you to the destination of Success.
I’ve heard blogging being called a mixture of art and science a few times lately. If this is true (and I think it is), there is no “right way” to approach blogging if you want to be successful. There are many people who have done great work, and I thought it would be useful to learn from them.
In this part, I am discussing about blogging tips for beginners to be successful in the long run, and how you can make the blog bigger gradually and build a huge customer base.
The Blogging Tips for beginners to be successful are:
- Get ideas from your audience
This can be a great way to gather ideas on the topics that people would most like to read about to help your blog grow! One of the best ways to see this in action are blog comments or tweets. In one example, here on FastCompany, many people have requested a post containing more female entrepreneurs.
A few weeks later, it was a great success to add such an article in which only women contributed and built great businesses:
- Understand your audience
By understanding your audience better, you’ll have a better idea of what blog content appeals to them. This is a good place to start when you write blog posts.
A great technique for doing this is to ask your readers first on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn with an appealing quote. If people respond well, this is probably a great topic to write about. One example is Andrew Chen, who “tests” his blog post ideas on Twitter first.
Take this example from a recent Twitter post where he simply tweeted a quote to see how well people liked a topic before he blogged about it:
- First write yourself
Yes, since I have been writing for myself, I have found that I write more and publish more often. However, I think the main reason for this is that I don’t decide whether to publish based on the traction/reception that the contribution will receive in my audience. If I want to publish something instead, I will do so. For me.
- Create your email list
If you ask readers to subscribe to your email list, you may want to try experimenting with a different language. Willy Franzen found that his subscription rate had increased by 254% when he changed his action request from “Subscribe by e-mail” to “Get jobs by e-mail”.
- Love your existing readers
I love the readers already have. Many bloggers are quite obsessed with finding new readers – to the point of ignoring the ones already there. Yes – try to find new readers, but spend time every day showing your current readers that you appreciate them too, and you’ll find that they help you grow your blog.
By focusing on your readers, you can get to know them better (see tip 2). I like the way Daniel Burstein describes what blog readers expect from you as a blogger.
A blog is really two things. One, simply a piece of technology, a platform. But second, it is a promise in the minds of most readers, who expect the blog to contain actual content with some value elements tailored to their needs. Similar to a newspaper. Readers don’t just see a newspaper as a newspaper delivered to their driveway every morning. They see it as valuable information about their city, where they live and the things they do.
- Concentrate on creating an amazing call to action
I’ve been screwing up for years. I would blog and blog. Some of my posts were very good in places like Hacker News, but I found it so hard to get repeat visitors. And very few people bothered to follow me on Twitter.
Don’t rely on other people to do the work to find your Twitter account. Don’t rely on them doing the work to find your data in a sidebar. People are blind to sidebars. Thank you banner ads!
Finish your blog post with some kind of action request to sign up for an email list or follow you on Twitter. When I started doing this, I immediately increased my Twitter followers by 335% in the first 7 days.
- Give things away
Give away free content that adds value to people’s lives “until it hurts” and they will love you and become loyal fans. A good example of this is Incentivibe’s research, which found that adding a pop-up with giveaways at the bottom right of their website resulted in 125% more email subscribers.
- Be consistent
Consistency is one of the most important things that bloggers often forget. It’s much easier to lose your traffic than to build it. So make sure you blog regularly. A study by Hubspot showed that consistent blogging actually leads to higher subscriber growth rates:
Over a two-month period, companies that regularly (more than once a week) published blog entries added subscribers more than twice as fast as companies that added content once a month.
- Share your knowledge
Don’t be afraid to show what you know. Too many bloggers hold back the good stuff for fear of giving away the “secret sauce.” There is no secret sauce in a world where everyone has high-speed Internet access at all times. Today you want to give away information snacks to sell knowledge meals.
Jay’s advice is to share the knowledge you have rather than hiding it away for a rainy day. Chris Guillebeau follows this advice by offering his readers two free PDFs to download. Chris also does what Jay calls “information snacks to sell knowledge meals”. On both free PDF download pages Chris markets his book on the right hand side.
- Be true to your voice
Stay true to yourself and your voice. People are less interested in following websites than in following people. Another blogger who is committed to the importance of the writer’s voice is Jeff Goins. He says that your voice is the most important but overlooked part of blogging. Writing is not about choosing the right topic. It’s about finding the right voice. What matters, what readers really respond to, is not so much what you say, but how.
- Give it time – that’s why
Plan to invest in blogging for a long time before you see a return. The Internet is a big, noisy place. If you’re not willing to invest more than others over a long period of time, success is almost impossible. If you’re looking for a short-term ROI or a quick way to spot it, blogging is the wrong way to go. But if you can endure years of no results and constantly learn, iterate and improve, you can achieve something remarkable
Rand shared with us these great pictures from his wife’s travel blog, Everywhereist, which shows how long it can take for your efforts to recover.
- Prioritize your email list
If you are blogging to support a business, movement or cause, you need to create an email list. This is not an option. I don’t even consider my blog as my community, my email list is my community. Taking care of these people, writing for them and providing value to them should be your primary goal.
When the New York Public Library focused on increasing email subscription rates, this simple homepage design with information about what readers can expect increased the numbers by 52.8% compared to a more complicated version with less information about the actual newsletter:
- Write catchy headlines
No matter how great your content is, it doesn’t matter unless you have an amazing headline. People have a split second to decide whether to click on your post, and your headline will let them decide. The headline is also important so that people can share your post easily and enjoyably. Keep your headlines at SPUB: simple, powerful, useful and bold.
- Be who, yourself
There are no specific rules to be successful in blogging. When I started blogging, I had the opportunity to learn from experienced and successful bloggers in the industry. One of the best lessons I have learned from this is to just be me. I did not have to be too “professional” or use “big words” to impress others. I just had to be me.
When I was younger, I enjoyed the writing and the process more. I had to write more than I normally would. If you look at the most successful writers like Seth Godin and Chris Brogan, you will see that they are different and unique in their own way. Rand Fishkin, CEO of Moz, agrees that it’s important to tell the story of your company rather than follow a formula for successful blogging:
Emotions and storytelling have been part of our communication for thousands of years and inspire action.
