I don’t think you should indulge in a hobby just because you want to make money. However, if you have a hobby you really love, why not get paid to do what you love? There are only 12 hobbies that can generate income, but there are certainly many others who would do the same thing……..

All work and leisure lead to a very boring life. Hobbies are a great way to relax, relax and get lost in doing something you love.

However, many people have taken their hobbies a step further and started making money with them. That’s right; hobbies shouldn’t just cost money – they can actually make you money. What better way to get paid to do something you were already doing and love?

Here are some of the most popular hobbies that can make you money:

Gardening
Many people garden because they like to put their hands in the ground and know where their food comes from and how it was grown. As you become more skilled at gardening, you can make money from this hobby by selling your excess product. You can do this by simply setting up a small garden kiosk at the end of your driveway, or you can sell the products at a farmers’ market. Many people like to buy at a stand at the end of the aisle because they can get local and local food at a reasonable price.

Photography
If you have a gift for taking pictures, there are a variety of ways to make money with this hobby. You could sell your photos to stock photo companies, but it probably won’t bring you much money.

A person I know likes to take scenic pictures, so every Christmas, he turns 12 of his scenic pictures into a calendar and sells them to his family and friends for $12.

If you can handle the pressure and are good at working with people, you could make a lot of money as a wedding photographer or family photographer.

Writing

There are many ways to make money if you like writing.

Freelance writing
You could work online as a freelance writer, which I do. Bloggers are looking for writers to help them produce content for their blogs, and many companies have an online presence and are looking for writers for their sites.

Blogging
You could create your own blog if you want, although it seems increasingly difficult to make money with blogs these days. However, a blog can be a good platform to showcase your writing skills.

Crafting
There is so much craftsmanship that you can enjoy and make money with it. Some include sewing, carpet hanging, jewellery making, etc. With time-consuming hobbies, such as hanging carpets or sewing doll’s or quilt’s clothes, you may not be making a lot of money per hour. However, if you already sew or hang rugs and like to do so, why not make money? One of the bloggers I’ve been making primitive hook mats for 22 years. She has an Etsy store and her rugs sell for between $49 and $449. If she already hangs rugs, why not make money with her hobby?

Working on cars

My father only drove El Camino trucks. He would go through the countryside to find one, the more he was beaten, the better. He paid a very low price for these cars, then spent hours refurbishing them. He loved doing that; it was a hobby that kept him busy for hours every week. Because he did the work himself, the cost of refurbishing the car was quite low. When he had the El Camino in a beautifully restored condition, he would sell the car for a big profit and start the cycle again.

If you like working on cars, this type of car rollover would make you money, or you could repair other people’s cars.

Fitness instructor

If you like to exercise, you can earn money by working as a fitness instructor. Fitness instructors can

Baking

If you like baking, you may be able to make a nice income on the side. My mother always made pumpkin rolls and Ho Ho Ho Ho cake for Christmas celebrations, and people were delighted with both desserts. After her retirement, she started making them for sale to her family and friends during the holidays. She made several hundred dollars by doing this, which was enough to cover the Christmas gifts she wanted to buy.

You could also do it. Be aware that if you want to sell your bakery products in a more formal setting such as a farmers’ market, you may need to obtain a permit to sell products that you have baked at home, or you may have to cook in a certified kitchen.

Virtual assistant for social media

Do you spend too much time on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and other social media? Do your messages receive a lot of feedback and comments? If so, you may be able to acquire your social media skills through a side concert. Many companies are looking to increase their presence on social media, but they don’t know how to do it. They are looking for freelancers who can help them. Chances are, once you have your first customer, you will probably get more through word of mouth.

Web Design

If you have a gift for website design, you will probably have no difficulty making money. Many small businesses want to develop a presence on the web, but do not know how to create a web page. Hiring web designers is difficult because not many of them want to work for small companies with a limited budget. They are your first ideal customers.

The arbitration

If you enjoy going to the local high school or after-school sports games, and you are used to playing the sport yourself, why not consider being a referee? You may need to be certified and have thick skin to treat fans who do not agree with your calls. However, you will probably earn between $30 and $50 per game. Refresh a few games a week, and you have a nice little income stream.

YouTube Vlogging

While you’re involved in all these hobbies, why not film what you’re doing and share it on YouTube? I’m sure that if you renovate cars, for example, you’ll probably find an audience eager to learn how to do what you do at each step.

If you can teach people how to do something that most of the general population doesn’t know how to do, you’ll probably gain more and more followers (and income) on YouTube.

Conclusions

I don’t think you should indulge in a hobby just because you want to make money. However, if you have a hobby you really love, why not get paid to do what you love? There are only 12 hobbies that can generate income, but there are certainly many others who would do the same.
